The Arabian Darley, Arabian Godolphin and Turkish Byerley types were mixed with strong and tall European types. In 1743, Louis XV commissioned Guillaume Coustou to build the magnificent Chateau de Marly in memory of his grandfather Louis XIV. The chateau, which still maintains its dazzling splendor today, took its place on the Champs Elysees, the heart of Paris, in 1974. Keeping the magnificent spirit of the Chateau de Marly alive, where unique perfumes were created for the royal dynasty and prominent foreign visitors, Parfums de Marly brings the spirit of the 18th century, when perfume experienced its golden age, to the present day, thanks to King Louis XV, known for his fondness for horses. Herod, the seventh perfume of Parfumsde Marly, was created with a mixture of woody and spicy notes. The horse that gave its name to Herod was born in 1758, and is a very important thoroughbred and an extremely successful racehorse in the history of English horses.
